This is our introductory Tactical Defensive Handgun course designed for individuals that already possess Concealed Handgun permits, as well as those wishing to obtain a permit. This course provides detailed instruction on tactical shooting, situational awareness, reactionary distances, preparation and less lethal options in "Gun Free Zones" (such as schools, banks, and hospitals), as well as legal aspects involved in defensive shootings. This course also includes discussions for personal safety in public, your home and office, as well as firearms safety around children. We provide insight into the differences between handguns used for range training and those used for personal defense and ensure your handgun "fits" you correctly. This course also provides information on ammunition performance and the types of holsters recommended for range training vs those used for concealed carry.
This course is designed to have the students work from the holster and ready positions on the range. Range drills are focused on the fundamentals as well as shot placement, handgun presentation, malfunction/reloading drills, utilization of cover, handling of handguns during stress, and the decision making process. If you do not already possess a CCW permit in Nebraska and/or Colorado, you will receive a certificate at the end of training to submit with your application at no additional charge.
Following the completion of Level 1 students will transition into TDH Level 2. This course builds on the fundamentals provided by TDH Level 1. This course is primarily scenario based and provides you the ability to shoot and move, engage multiple targets, establish a survival mindset, and provides a detailed continuation into the tactical mindset. Students will move on the range constantly during this session of range drills.
